Never eating out again

My wife wanted to go to "California Pizza Kitchen" tonight. It started out quite nice, we loved our food, and our boys seemed to be behaving. Just as we were finishing up my youngest decided to try and eat too many noodles at once. Fortunately, my wife (with her mystical mother instinct) reached her hand forward just in time to catch a toddler sized portion of puke. She just sat there for a few moments with it sitting in her hands. It was interesting how it was just enough puke to fill her hands up but not so much that it overflowed. She then dumped it onto a small plate and place a napkin over it. "Check please". A very funny moment in and of itself..........but our story does not end there. Just before we left we told our oldest that if he ate another bite of his food we would go play on the playground. He muscled down one last bite..........and then he threw up all over my wife as we were walking to the exit. This time it was not a handful of puke, it was industrial size 3 year old puke. He basically shot out everything we tried to put in him. The waiters were annoyed, the other guests were annoyed, I was annoyed and my poor little wife had to spend 20 minutes in the ladies restroom removing partially digested mac and cheese. It was a Mother's day meal never to be forgotten.

well, outside of the puke landing on you, the nice thing about puking in public is you don't have to clean it off your furniture or floors ^_^

(I've been visiting awhile, it's totally cool reading an animation blog!)

You know, before I became a father I always thought that changing diapers was the most disgusting thing to be encountered in baby rearing. Little did I know that there was an entire spectrum of bodily fluids/waste to be experienced, and that a day with just diapers to change is actually a good day.

Yikes! Good thing I'm not eating right now; I think I'd loose my cookies. :)

I ran across your blog, and I had to add a comment. You do not know me, but as a grandmother, what you and your wife went through brought back memories(not exactly pleasant) but now they are kind of funny. My twins saved all their upchucking for right in the middle of church. We were not very popular, but we lived through it. My husband was ready to stop going anywhere with us. He eventually started again and now even sees the funny side. Good luck to you.

As bad as that day might have seemed to you, I think, even though I would have been very concerned about my children's health at that point (and I sincerely hope they don't have a stomach bug), I would have been more than a little grateful because, as Erica pointed out, a Mother's Day wasn't spent cleaning vomit out of rugs, furniture, bedding, off floors. That's a tiny consolation in a not-so-nice Mother's Day meal.

I hope your wife managed to enjoy the rest of her day, at least.

The boys are both healthy, they just have very strong gag reflexes. I appreciate all of the sympathy and support. It is something we can laugh at now.

My two girls take after their dad, and they have very strong gag reflexes, too. It's not the best of qualities, especially when you're on the receiving end of a toddler who doesn't quite understand that they need to at least try to make it to the toilet if they have to be sick!

Did I ever tell you about when Gage ate his poop from off the floor?
