Disappointing Weekend

"Bolt" was blown out of the water by "Twilight" this weekend. Despite twilight being ripped to sheds by the critics and Bolt being highly praised, audiences apparently just didn't have enough interest in another cuddly dog movie. Just to put it into perspective, "Beverly Hills Chihuahua" did better than Bolt on its opening weekend. Bolt got an %84 on Rotten Tomatoes, "Beverly Hills" and "Twilight" scored in the low %40...................................I hate vampires and I hate Chihuahuas but I guess thats what Americans want to see.

Bolt will do good- it went up against Twilight, which wasn't real smart.

The Twilight books are awesome, so I'm looking forward to the movies.

And I'm seeing Bolt too. This week infact.

Bolt doesn't have a huge fan base because of the books like "Twilight" does. I'd say it wasn't a fair contest and if "Twilight" was just a movie then I think "Bolt" would have beaten it.

It is to bad that it had to come out on the same night as Twilight. I'm sure if it had its own opening day (Like the Chiwawa movie) it would have done much better. That is an unfair comparison. We loved it.

Twilight is going to start big and flop because all I've heard is how dumb it is. Bolt is going to start small and explode because people will want to see good movie after Twilight. (I haven't been to Twilight, so I am basing this off other people's opinions.)

I was disappointed by the opening weekend numbers too, but I thought Bolt was great. You did some great stuff in there too. You did some of my favorite shots and I didn't know it until afterward when I read your shot list.

Bolt is awesome! Word of mouth will help Bolt stab a wooden stake into the heart of that lame vampire movie. The people in line for Twilight were not good enough to see Bolt anyway... They were loud, wearing capes and covered in sparkles.

I think Bolt will do fine, all the moms that would have taken their kids to see Bolt this weekend took their husbands to see Twilight. Their husbands are mad at them for that, and their kids are restless to see Bolt. So with all the time this weekend and the Twilight mania hopefully satiated, I'm sure Bolt will rebound. Looking forward to seeing it myself.

I loved Bolt. And I've gotten a few people to promise to see it when I say you're my blog friend.

I'm seeing Bolt in 3-D next!

Hey Hyrum, I took my family this weekend and they loved it! I'm hoping more people go see it over Thanksgiving. Great job on the animations for Rhino btw, he stole the show.

Loved it Hyrum!

Our night was between Twilight and Bolt, I'm glad I persisted!

Having seen Twilight, I can say the critics were dead on. Yikes, it was poorly done! I have no doubt that Bolt is a far better movie, and we will definately be seeing that this Thanksgiving weekend. I'm sure as will many families. Unfortunately Twilight had the whole fanatic 13-year-old girl market, and boy was it crazy and fanatic!

Go, Bolt!

Adam and I went to see Bolt this weekend (in 3-D) and it was AWESOME! Remember the true test is the second weened because that's when people have already seen it. Everyone I've talked to about it is very excited to see it, and I've heard anyone who has seen it telling people that they HAVE to go so no worries!!!!

and btw everybody always laughs when Rhino cracks his neck and says "Starving!" I can't tell you how many people tell me that was their favorite part....

You know me, I am not a conspiracy theorist, but I really feel like Disney's marketing really sucks when it comes to loving all titles equally. Most people had no idea what Bolt even was two weeks ago. I really do feel however that Bolt is a movie that will have more longevity as we go through the Holidays. And who is the turd burgler that thought it would be a good idea to go up against Twilight? And also I agree the only good vampire is a dead'un.

Hyrum - I just wanted to let you know that we convinced our entire extended family to go to Bolt on the Friday after Thanksgiving...with all their kids...15 tickets in all! Here's to hoping other families did likewise.

I plan on taking my kids to see Bolt soon.

Keep in mind, family movies are were the money is. sure it may not open big, but the longevity is there.

And everytime I see that Hamster I think of you. :D
