UP Review

http://www.disneydreaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/up_the_movie_dog.jpg

I had the chance to see "UP" this morning at a special screening with my wife and kids. (one of the perks of working at Disney of which you should all be jealous) I had seen the first sequence of the show previously in its story board form and I was immediately hooked. I was aware, however, that I am part of a certain group of people in this world who go into a Pixar movie thinking, "This had better be the greatest CG movie ever!"I did that on "Ratatouille" and "Wall-e" and (even though I now absolutely love both movies) I walked out of the theater thinking "mnnnaa....it was ok". So when I watched "UP" this morning I reminded myself that I really should just keep my expectations in check. This movie was spectacular. It was beautiful, It was heartwarming, and I laughed from beginning to end. Was it perfect?...no, even with my checked expectations I have to admit that I was bothered by a few things here and there (keep in mind, of course, that I am the same person who thought that the "Incredibles" had some serious problems). As a whole, however, this film delivers on the Pixar quality and story telling we have all come to expect. "Cars" (and of course "Bolt") will still be my kids favorites but for me, "UP" now ranks as one of the top Pixar Pic's. Go see it and tell me what you think.

I can't wait to see this!

But Hyrum... Please tell about Black Cauldron. I want to be one of the Cauldron Born...

Mr. M. The word is that Black Cauldron is going to be release some time this year but thats just internet buzz. If I were you I'd just go see the play,...I think they changed the name to "wicked" or something, but there's definitely a black cauldron in it and fine dancing.

Mr. H - I saw Wicked and thought it was filth! Pure filth. They don't make water hot enough to cleanse myself after seeing it.

So... what you are telling me is that it WILL NOT be released in special edition format? If this is the case, can you please transfer me to your supervisor. This is uncalled for.

P.S. I need to come and visit soon. I hope you don't mind me staying for a month or so. I don't mind sleeping between you and Bex.

Let me know.

Yes "Wicked" thats it, the Broadway remake of the Black Cauldron. You're just bitter because you didn't think of it first!!!

p.s. you may come and visit us tomorrow between 3-4 pm...and bring a gift.

Gift? I'll give you a gift all right. I'll give you a spanking you'll soon not forget.

I need to talk to Mr. Lasseter about giving The Black Cauldron the release it deserves. This of course includes an introduction by me and a new soundtrack by me.

Up was awesome! There was some insanely awesome animation in it! I felt the beginning with his wife was a bit rushed and I could have done without the dogs flying the planes but overall it was good. Not quite sure where I rank it yet but definitely some good stuff!

Did you read about the terminally ill 10 year old girl and how Pixar brought UP to her?

It was soo sad!

Hey Hyrum-it sounds like we had much the same reaction to the film. : )

I wondered what you and Clay(my fav Disney animators) would have thought about the character animation in it...(I still haven't asked Clay)....I thought it was great. Go read my thoughts(not a review really, just thoughts).

Hope all's going well for you & yours--happy 4th!
